Moorland Sketch Challenge

Thornbury Art Club have been staying connected during COVID-19 lockdown. With usual activities postponed the committee set a challenge to get members painting.

The Brief: Use the very quick sketch of a Cornish moorland scene pictured above as inspiration to produce your own version in colour. For example it could be interpreted in coloured pencil, pastel, watercolour or acrylics and if you wish add extra details for interest. Be as naturalistic or wacky as the mood takes you.

Our former chairperson Rita Dee set this challenge from her original sketch. Members didn’t receive the two examples below, which were used for a previous workshop theme. The left is oil bar and the right is in watercolour. Have a look at the slideshow to see what our members created.
